The Unica decorative mirrors, originally derived from the I-light lighting system (patented for professional makeup use), have established themselves over the years as essential design elements in interior decor. They have increasingly gained favour with architects and interior designers specialising in the luxury furnishing of residential and office space.
High-end interior design is characterised by a detailed and bespoke approach that focuses on uniqueness, luxury, and the superior quality of materials, all of which are common elements in the Unica range of mirrors.
In the past two years, we have been pleased to see that our mirrors have found a new placement through these professionals in what is known as High-end Mobile Interiors, the furnishing of mobile spaces such as the interiors of boats, motorhomes, and jets.
In particular, the MDE500 (620×472 mm) and MDE501 (800×600 mm) mirrors from the contract mirror line, thanks to their compact dimensions, have proven to be the most versatile in integrating into these small gems of interior design.
Yacht and Super Yacht Interior Design
In the furnishing of luxury spaces such as yachts and super yachts, interior design requires special attention to both functionality and aesthetics, given the limited space and the need to maximise every available inch. This is in line with a typically ‘holistic’ design approach, which also considers the well-being of the occupants and the ergonomics of the spaces.
Furthermore, considering the marine environment, to ensure that the mirror you include in your client’s project retains its beauty over time, it is essential to choose materials that are resistant to humidity and corrosion.
Campervan Interior Design
If space optimisation is a common concern for all these ‘mobile’ spaces, it becomes crucial when it comes to vehicles on wheels, as they typically have very limited spa
Mirrors, when strategically positioned, can visually expand the space. Additionally, integrated lighting eliminates the need for a separate light source, which would otherwise occupy more space (especially for the bathroom).
Aircraft and jet interior design
Interior design for First Class and private jets places a strong emphasis on extreme comfort and customisation. However, unlike previous examples, in Aviation Interior Design, particularly in private jets, mirrors are not confined to the traditional bathroom setting but are utilised in larger spaces. When strategically placed in the main cabin (these areas often serve as executive offices), mirrors can capture and reflect the sky and enhance the internal lighting.
In a vanity area dedicated to personal grooming, a mirror with lights provides optimal illumination without altering the surrounding environment. Despite the consideration of the overall weight of the mirror, in larger spaces, we have seen the selection of less minimalist finishes, drawing from the MF range (with handcrafted wooden frames), the SP range (with metal frames), and the MH range (with RGB backlighting), to satisfy sophisticated interior design requirements.
Fully bespoke design, increasingly integrated sustainability in luxury design, and Lighting Design are the key elements and challenges for modern designers of these types of spaces.
Lighting design, in particular, plays a central role, with innovative solutions that not only illuminate but also create unique atmospheres, ‘lightscapes’ that alter the perception of space.
